Coonabarabran is a friendly country town of around 3,000 people with 11,000 living in the region. As the closest gateway to the majestic Warrumbungle Ranges, it's one of the best places in NSW to experience nature. Coonabarabran: - Known as the ‘Astronomy Capital of Australia’, Coonabarabran is the gateway to the magnificent Warrumbungle National Park. It is a peaceful country town set beneath the majestic Warrumbungle Mountain Range.

 

Dunedoo: - Set amongst the rolling hills and valleys striding the Talbragar River, Dunedoo is the perfect place for a relaxing stopover. Enjoy a picnic beneath the mature trees in the lovely landscaped recreation area of OL Milling Park, which runs almost the entire length of the main street. The Park features a safe playground, sheltered BBQ’s and amenities.

 

Baradine: - Located just 30 minutes north of Coonabarabran is Baradine, gateway to the vast and intriguing forest of The Pilliga.

 

Coonamble: - Coonamble is a delightful country town, the gateway to the wetlands of the Macquarie Marshes and the rugged scenery of Warrumbungle National Park.

 

Coolah: - Coolah is the gateway to Coolah Tops National Park, one of the best keep secrets in New South Wales. The Park is home to rare flora and fauna and contains some outstanding botanical features such as giant grass trees and snow gums.

 

Mendooran: - Settled in the 1840’s, Mendooran is the oldest town on the Castlereagh River.

 

Binnaway: - Binnaway is located on the banks of the Castlereagh River and is within half an hour’s drive from both Coonabarabran and Coolah along the Warrumbungles Way. The town offers a pleasant countryside detour, nature trails, good value pub meals and tasty café snacks.
